Deployment Engineer

Job description:
As a Deployment Engineer, you will be a critical part of the Portico Infrastructure Team, administering N-tier application(s) in various environments; Unix, Linux and Windows.

Additional Roles and responsibilities:

  • Working closely with project teams to achieve ultimate goal of application delivery for critical business functions.
  • Setting up production, staging and development environments; installing third-party software applications, deploying code, tuning and improving Web & Applications Servers
  • Perform proactive review of applications and systems performance metrics and alerts to ensure event correlation and trend analysis are performed on a regular basis
  • Establishing yourself as a trusted advisor to internal and client stakeholders
  • Forging relationships and influencing stakeholders

Job requirements:

  • At least 2 years experience in application administration to support development, testing, staging, and production sites.
  • Understanding of n-tier java application support to include J2EE best practices
  • Ability to work in a variety of client settings and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Proven ability for implementing comprehensive technical solutions
  • Knowledge of the Java API, including but not limited to JMS, EJB, JSP, Servlets and Jython
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Unix Administration knowledge (Solaris/Red Hat Linux)
  • Administration of Virtual Machines, Virtual Appliances in VMWare
  • Java Application Server Administration (Websphere, Weblogic, Tomcat)
  • Web Server Administration (Apache, iPlanet, IIS)
  • Experience with database installation and administration of Oracle
  • Basic TCP/IP fundamentals to include routing and NATing
  • Scripting experience to include shell, perl and jacl
  • Versioning Control Systems including cvs
  • Healthcare industry experience highly desirable but not required
  • Willingness to travel to client sites for environment setup, configuration and problem solving.
